Ear "Candy"(?)

The John Henrys, "Sweet as the Grain" 2008; Alt/County; WHFR collection; Canada picking up on one of America's better exports... music.
Caitlin Cary and Thad Cockrell,"Begonias"2005 (WHFR collection); this is a really sweet, lovely compilation. They sound great together, and the songs I've been able to really listen to are good. Nice, old school sound; dreamy. Love his band on both CD's I have. (The other is "Warmth and Beauty", also from my WHFR collection.)
Steve Earl; Trancendental Blues... ok, this must be long-lost sonic sibling of mine. LOVE this. These are melodies that could have emereged on planet Robin; gonna suck this thing up for a while! It's a tablesetting of hillbilly folk on a rock and roll tablecloth with blues fringe. Was a little caught off guard by the f*bomb prelude to Galway Girl, but whatever.
Bobby Gentry; Chickasaw County Child: The Artistry of; Okey dokey; does her voice smoke, or what? It's so far above the dated arrangements. It would be really cool to just dub her in over some sweet, modern instumentals. (But some I wouldn't change at all!) Where are you, Bobbie? Throwin' flowers into the muddy water...
Mary Chapin Carpenter; Stones in the Road; a little walk down memory lane. I saw her @ Interlochen the year I worked there (1993! Seems so long!) Right before this was released; I like her voice, and as usual, I wish it wan't "over-produced", as I am wont to say. Some good songs on this one.
Eric Church; Carolina... mmm, not doing for me. Most inspiring part is the title line of song "Where She Told Me to Go"; brilliant line. Spews some pretty big piles about "pretty boy" artists, but this record doesn't deliver any better. Where's the depth in that voice? Help, me; please. I know it's in there somewhere... and I want to hear it. No, no, it's not bad; it's just not what it could be, and thus dissapointing.
Elizabeth Cotten; Freight Train and Other North Carolina Folk Songs and Tunes; I can listen to this, yes I can. I can feel it. That's why I LIKE it!
Toby Keith; Greatest Hits 2... mmmm, hmmm. Yeah. Just a little somethin' about that voice. My boys are in love with "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue", of course. He knows how to have fun with a song.
Johnny Cash; Love: I haven't been able to listen, as my husband has apparently attatched himself to Johnny Cash. Yes, it's a miracle.
Disciple; self titled... My 13 yr. old loves this! It's a little hard for my current state of musical attraction, but it's good. Christian worldview amped.
